Nijito is a story-driven rhythm RPG game designed to provide players with a varied experience each time they play a song. It does so via it's most defining feature -- the ability for players to change which instrument in a 4-instrument ensemble they're playing at the drop of a hat. If you think of Rock Band but with more distinct instruments, band members who grow over the course of the game, and a heaping helping of mid-song ensemble shuffles, then you have a pretty clear understanding of the hectic, yet tactical, experience that is Nijito.
Nijito is produced by Reality Check Games, an independent studio of 10 recent graduates and young professionals who have come together to make games that are impactful, in addition to fun. It's narrative tackles a number of topics close to the hearts of the majority-minority team who made it, including racism, gender dysphoria, age dysphoria, as well as good ol' fashioned heartbreak and longing.
